What is the definition of stress?

Stress is our body's reaction to feeling under pressure and it's a very common condition which at one stage or another we have all had to endure.

Stress can be brought on by challenges in our daily life, the demands of home, work and family life.

It affects our mood, our body and possibly even relationships. It can bring on feelings of anxiety, anger, a feeling of being irritable and can be a major factor in self-esteem issues and even depression. We must ease the cause of our stress and take steps to ensure that these issues do not arise from it.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by something, have difficulty sleeping or concentrating. Feel irritable, possibly suffering from a tummy upset from feeling nervous or anxious. Or perhaps you're eating, drinking or smoking more than usual, Then these are all possible signs of stress.

It is Stress Awareness Month, lets take back control. How can we do this I hear you ask?

Here's a few pointers from our friend Google to help create some balance in your mind, body and emotions.

1. Eat a healthy diet.

2. Exercise regularly

3. Reduce or stop smoking

4. Build some meditation, mindfulness or yoga into your day

5. Set realistic goals

6. Make plans!

7. Take some 'me time'

8. Have a 'no tech' hour before bedtime

9. Avoid caffeine

10. Go outside for a walk in the fresh air!

These are just a few suggestions, some of which may just help.

I hope these suggestions can ease your stress xx
